Crossword creator Mary Horowitz (Bullock) is a quirky walking encyclopaedia with poor social skills, zero dress sense and no clue about love.

When she meets news cameraman Steve Muller (Cooper) she comes on so strong it sends him running

– but she just doesn’t get it and starts following the petrified guy across America.

Not helping matters is Steve’s colleague Hartman Hughes (a hilarious Church) whose matchmaking attempts lands her in a hole she (literally) can’t get out of.

It’s a decent story idea but it’s sunk by an awful script. Still, if you’re a Bullock fan you’ll have fun figuring out whether to love or pity Mary.

Bonus: deleted and alternative scenes; gag reel.
