“Ek is mal oor my werk,” sê sy by die een.
Nog ’n inskrywing lui: “Welkom in my kantoor.”

As promised I would like to do another educational post about my job. As any other instagrammer I completely show off the perks and beauty of being a pilot ? you'll be surprised to hear that there is also a not so glamorous side to it ? I hope some of your questions will be answered otherwise please comment or ask below ??and don't forget; these are personal opinions and experiences... ?Your sense of time will be completely gone and you will have no idea which day of the week it is. This is so odd for other people ? when you try to make an appointment... I live with dates not days, that is how a pilots schedule works, there are no weekends, holidays or national off days... Some days I fly the whole night other days I wake up at 3 am in the morning, this is all very normal, get used to it ? ? You will be a lot away from home... You will miss your friends & family. It depends on the company and schedule but I have an average of 2 to 7 layovers a month. Not all of them are in exotic or nice places! Sometimes I even don't want to get out and sometimes you don't have any time left besides sleeping. There are times I don't see my husband for nearly a week... ? You will lose a lot of friends. Everyone one meets up in weekends... Remember, you don't have a regular duty! You can have a Friday, Saturday or Sunday off but it will not be standard nor will it be often. When your friends call or need you, your phone will be switched off when you're flying... Birthday parties, special occasions will not be possible to attend most of the time... ? Airline food is not famous for its taste or quality... Eat clean, be healthy will be so difficult with this job! An option will be, bring your own meal, snacks or fruit from home, but who has time for all that... And until you arrive at your airplane we have to go through 2 X-rays... How healthy will your food be after this? Another important fact, as many of you know we cannot eat the same meals in the flightdeck for safety reasons. You are lucky when the choice is yours, otherwise you'll get what's left ? Thanks for reading ?? happy flying ?? #aviation #pilotproblems #pilotlife #aviatrix
